Guymon, Oklahoma The GUYMON node is a cooperative venture with the Dust Bowl Amateur Radio Club, and uses their club call, N5DFQ. Our special thanks to George, KY5C, for the use of the G & G Electronics tower. Pictured below are Chip, N5LTZ (left) and George, on installation day for the N5DFQ-10 node:
The antenna, at about 250 feet, is a fiberglass commercial unit. The building also houses transmitters for two broadcast stations: The node transceiver is a Motorola Maratrac at about 80 watts out, and a KPC-3 TNC:
Below is the current coverage route between HUG in Hugoton, Kansas and POTTER (substitute for WA5ETK) in Amarillo:
GUYMON once had a constant path to Amarillo through a node at Stinnett, TX, but we had to leave the tower there and relocate to a location on the south side of Borger, TX. That site never provided a dependable route to and from GUYMON, so the BOR node was taken down on April 11, 2009. It is hoped that we will once again have a node in Stinnett.
