Wayside, Texas

Wayside is a very small community located east of Happy, Texas. The tower for the ARMSTG (Armstrong County) PACKET node, the WAYSID APRS digi, and the 444.475 Caprock Intertie UHF repeater-- is located at 34° 49' 24" N and 101° 33' 49" W. All three modes are now in their new building, as of October 17, 2010

The new building is heated, air-conditioned, and has an ice shield to protect it from tower ice during winter. Emergency power is also provided for all equipment inside.

ARMSTG communicates with GRAY (in Pampa), POTTER and AMAPCG, in Amarillo, and with PLVW in Plainview. PLVW then provides access to nodes in the Lubbock area and south from there. ARMSTG covers nearly all areas of Palo Duro Canyon, and allows mobile packet access from a long stretch of Interstate 27 from Tulia to southern parts of Amarillo. The WAYSID APRS digi has shown excellent coverage in all directions. The 444.475 voice repeater is linked all over the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles, plus parts of Kansas. It will soon cover parts of Eastern New Mexico, once it is added to the site at Gruhlkey, TX.
