2008 Amarillo Picnic-Swapfest

The 8th Annual PARC Picnic-Swapfest was held Saturday, May 17, in Area 17 of Thompson Park, Amarillo. Despite the high fuel prices, we had hams attending from the all over the Panhandle; Clovis, McAlister and Portales, NM; Childress, Lazbuddie and Cisco, TX; and from Elk City and Mooreland, OK.

$50 cash prizes were won by Jim, K5BZH; Monty, KC5OMK; and Bill, KE5NBJ. The $100 Grand Prize was won by Gordon, W5LTM. The auction for a partially assembled Heathkit HW-8, donated to the club in honor of K5AOM(SK), was won by Ken, K5LQN. Numerous door prizes provided by ARRL were also given away.

As always, free coffee, doughnuts, bottled water and colas were available to all attending. Desperado's Barbecue served 82 meals with all the trimmings and iced tea for $7 per person.
